If you’ve known our family for a while, you’ll remember the days of wooden baskets and clever home pieces made in Compostela, Cebu. We pressed pause to focus on other branches of our craft, but the heartbeat never left the workshop. Today, we’re excited to say it: Wagas Crafts is back.
Why we stepped away (and why we’re returning)
A family business grows in seasons. We poured years into ukuleles, trade fairs, and custom art—work we’re proud of. But in every build, we kept coming back to the feeling of wood in our hands and the joy of making practical objects that live with you every day. Friends kept asking for the “old” Wagas pieces. New customers discovered our story. It felt like the right time to return—slow, small-batch, and thoughtful.
What stays the same
-
Craftsmanship first. Pieces are designed and built in Cebu, guided by Ritchie Wagas, who still sketches forms, checks proportions, and obsesses over little details.
-
Made to last. We finish by hand and keep things simple: clean shapes, smooth edges, and hardware that holds up with use.
-
Human touches. From sanding to final wipe-downs, real people touch every piece. You’ll feel it.
What’s new
-
Trompa Phone Amplifier. A tabletop horn for your phone—no cables, no charging, just smart shaping that gives your music and calls a warm boost. It looks great on a desk or shelf, and it’s a very Wagas mix of form + function.
-
Raised-Inlay Keychains. Wood + raised plastic detail for a playful, durable everyday carry. (Yes, we kept the inlay true to the real piece.)
-
Personalization. Add names, dates, or short messages through laser engraving or hand-painting. Perfect for gifts, company tokens, and keepsakes.
-
Small drops. Instead of big collections, we’ll release limited batches you can actually catch—and we’ll tell the story behind each one.
How we build (quick look inside the workshop)
Every idea starts in pencil. We prototype, refine, and only put a piece into the lineup if it passes the “would we use this at home?” test. In the shop, new-gen tools help us cut precisely, but the feel comes from hands: assembly, sanding, fitting hardware, and that final clear coat. It’s the same spirit we’ve carried since the late 90s—updated for today’s homes.
Caring for your piece
Keep it dry, wipe with a soft cloth, and avoid long exposure to direct sun or heat. For pieces that see daily use, a light clean and occasional re-oil (food-safe oil for boards) keeps everything looking loved, not tired.
