WAGAS CRAFTS was formally organized and registered in the Philippines in 1998 by its Sole Proprietor – RITCHIE R. WAGAS.  Indeed, “poverty is the mother of all inventions“ because his humble beginnings did inspire him to develop the so-called Collapsible Baskets. Hence, the work began as a labor of love and commitment.

Ritchie, Debbie and Ulrika Wagas

It all started in the backyard of his home in Compostela, Cebu with the caring support from his wife-Debbie and only daughter-Ulrika. The research and development work lasted for almost a year, and thereafter, the first finished products were introduced in one of the biggest malls of their island during one Chistmas Bazaar. The acceptance of the product was highly impressive which led to the opening of several kiosks and carts in other big malls all over the Philippines.

From a factory made of makeshifts under the mango trees with a handful of woodcrafters and artisans, the company is currently composed of more than a 100 workforce with a distribution network all over the globe. It has developed additional product lines which are complimentary to the collapsible baskets. It has already introduced the Flying Mobiles, Family Tree, International Time Converters, and Photo Magnets.

With its basic concept of handcrafted and hand painted products, our company continues to amaze all arts and crafts lovers from around the world. In doing so,  it gives hope to the disadvantaged and underprivileged whom we bestow our undying love and commitment in order “ to arise, go forth, and conquer “  the hardships in life.
